This article provides an overview of the basic definition,importance,and impact on the economy and environment of metal corrosion.It delves into the three major mechanisms of metal corrosion:chemical corrosion,electrochemical corrosion,and microbial corrosion.In response to these corrosion mechanisms,the article provides a detailed introduction to various advanced metal protection technologies,including surface coating technology,cathodic protection technology,corrosion inhibitor technology,as well as metal alloying and material modification.In addition,the article also reviews the application of these protection technologies in the field of pipeline corrosion protection.Through case analysis,the experience and lessons learned from practical applications were summarized,and suggestions were made for future research directions.
