摘要

Abstract

This study investigates the pollution characteristics,sources,and potential ecological risks of heavy metals in the surface sediments of the Tarim River's Alar-Shaya section,situated in its upper reaches.The research involved the collection and analysis of heavy metal contents(As,Cd,Cr,Cu,Fe,Mn,Ni,Pb,and Zn)in these sediments.Utilizing principal component analysis(PC A)and Pearson correlation analysis,the study traced the origins of these metals.Additionally,the geo-accumulation index and the potential ecological risk index method were employed to assess the pollution status and potential ecological risks.The findings re-veal a significant positive correlation among the nine studied heavy metals,indicating that most originate from natural deposition,leading to relatively low overall pollution levels in the river's upper reaches.Specifically,heavy metals such as Pb,As,and Cd were identified as deriving from natural,agricultural,and industrial sources,suggesting a varied impact on the region's ecological risk profile.
