Abstract
Aims:This paper aims to develop efficient and clean magnetic nanoparticles for the magnetic flocculation application in wastewater treatment.Methods:Iron tetraoxide(Fe3O4)nanoparticles were synthesized using the co-precipitation method.The effects of the iron source n(Fe3+)∶n(Fe2+)ratios and the reaction temperatures on the particle morphology,particle size,structure,surface functional groups,and zeta potentials were investigated.The magnetic properties of the samples were evaluated.Results:The co-precipitation method was used to prepare Fe3O4 nanoparticle had the iron source n(Fe3+)∶n(Fe2+)ratio of 1.75∶1 at a reaction temperature of 50 ℃.The nanoparticles had the size of 10~80 nm,a stable crystalline morphology,a high number of surface groups(-OH),and a small absolute value of the zeta potential.The saturation magnetization strength of the nanoparticles was 67.18 emu·g-1.The coercive force was 3 242.00 A·m-1,and the residual magnetization strength was 4.47 emu·g-1.Conclusion:The Fe3O4 nanoparticle prepared by the co-precipitation method can be used as an excellent magnetic flocculant to facilitate water flocculation reaction.关键词
