摘要

Abstract

The complicated structure for J type joint of head cover and pipe seat in reactor pressure vessel and weld defects has been puzzled the manufacturers of nuclear island equipment.In this paper,the causes of penetration testing defects were deeply analyzed according to metallographic structure analysis,scanning electron microscopy,energy spectrum analysis,which was determined that the primary cause of the defect was intercrystalline inclusion caused by foreign body invasion in the weld pool during the welding process rather than DDC crack.After hydrostatic test,the weld surface had been polished by brush,and the surface of weld was breaked.The tiny inclusion embedded in the weld are exposed to the surface.The defect is superficial(within 1mm of the surface)which could be removed by grinding under the condition that the margin is rich.The key process improvement measures were the cleanliness control of the welding process including that station cleaning control,avoiding welding and grinding cross operation and dust removal before welding.
