Abstract

The cocoanut shell biochar(CBC)was prepared by anaerobic calcination using discarded coconut shells and loaded with FeOOH to obtain a new composite material FeOOH/CBC,which was used to activate persulfate(PS)to degrade chlortetracycline hydrochloride(CTC)in water.The characterization results show that FeOOH/CBC has a rough surface with a large number of activation sites and is rich in oxygen-containing functional groups.The experimental results show that:Under the optimal conditions of mass ratio of FeOOH to CBC 1∶2,initial CTC concentration 200 mg/L,solution pH 3,FeOOH/CBC amount 1.0 g/L,PS amount 1.0 mmol/L and reaction time 90 min,the CTC removal rate can reach 97.7%;H2PO4-,HCO3-and Cl-with high concentration have a certain inhibitory effect on the degradation of CTC,while CO32-with a concentration over 10 mmol/L has a strong inhibitory effect.The mechanism analysis show that SO4-·is the main free radical for CTC removal,and·OH and O2-·also play a certain role in the removal of CTC.
