Abstract

The performance improvement of the integrated sensing and communication(ISAC)system in dense urban areas is restricted by path fading.Therefore,this paper proposes a design method of ISAC system assisted by intelligent reflecting surfaces(IRSs).The main objective of this system is to design the beamforming vector of ISAC base station(BS)and the phase shift matrix of IRS to maximize radar signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)subject to the user-required SNR,the transmit power of ISAC BS and the phase of the IRS.However,it is very difficult to solve non-convex optimization problems due to higher order unit modular constraints of the IRS phase shift matrix.In order to solve this problem,the innovative solution based on Marjorie minimization(MM)algorithm is proposed.The algorithm firstly reduces the order of the IRS phase shift matrix via MM algorithm,and then the interior point method is used to solve quadratic constrained quadratic programming(QCQP)problem with unit module constraints.To reduce the complexity of solving the sub-optimization problem of the IRS phase shift matrix,the binary search algorithm is further proposed to obtain a closed-form solution for the phase shift matrix,which can meet the low-latency needs for the applications such as intelligent driving.Experiments show that compared with traditional methods without IRS,the IRS-assisted ISAC system can provide indirect data communication and target detection paths,thereby effectively improving the performance of communication data transmission and radar target detection.
