Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the qualitative and quantitative quality of codonopsis root and its two common counterfeits,radix libonotidis and starwort root by mid-infrared spectroscopy.Methods:Experimental samples of a single kind of doping substance with 5%-60%doping mass fraction of different counterfeit products were prepared,and mid-infrared spectral data in the range of 400-4 000 cm-1 were collected.Principal component analysis(PCA)was used to identify codonopsis root and its two kinds of counterfeits.For a single adulterant sample,five different pretreatment methods were used to denoise the spectral data.By using partial least squares regression(PLS)method,a PLS1 model was established to predict the adulterant content quantitatively,and successive projection algorithm(SPA)was used to select the optimal wavelength and optimize the quantitative model.Results:The prediction set determination coefficient(Rp2)and root-mean-square error(RMSEP)of the 8-wavelength detection model based on codonopsis root mixed with radix libonotidis were 0.989 6 and 3.3781%respectively.The prediction set determination coefficient(Rp2)and root mean square error(RMSEP)were 0.998 4 and 1.279 3%respectively for the 11-wavelength detection model based on codonopsis root mixed with starwort root.Conclusion:The rapid nondestructive detection and quality evaluation of different adulterated codonopsis root can be achieved by using mid-infrared spectroscopy.The proposed method provides basic theory and reference scheme for the subsequent application and development of nondestructive testing instruments for codonopsis root and other kinds of traditional Chinese medicine,and is of great significance for ensuring the quality,safety and effectiveness of Chinese medicinal materials.
