Abstract

Eighteen inbred lines selected from early maturing maize populations in Europe were used as experimental materials to analyze the main agronomic traits and resistance to major leaf spot and head smut.The results showed that most of the 18 inbred lines exhibited good performance in major agronomic traits and disease resistance.Four materials,E2106,E2111,E2114,and E2116,showed outstanding resistance to Fusarium oxysporum and Fusarium head smut;Five materials,including E2101,E2105,E2112,E2113,and E2117,have shown outstanding performance in yield and disease resistance.Among them,two materials,E2117 and E2105,have high resistance to large leaf spot disease while ranking second and third in yield.These materials should be emphasized and utilized in future breeding work;E2109 ranks first in yield,but its resistance to head smut is average.It should be selectively utilized in future breeding work.
