Abstract
Objective To explore the occurrence of cognitive impairment in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy(TLE)and the related influencing factors.Methods 80 TLE patients admitted to our hospital from January 2021 to July 2023 were selected,and their baseline data were collected.The cognitive function of the patients was evaluated by the Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE).The occurrence of cognitive impairment(MMSE score＜27 points)was counted,and univariate and multivariate analysis were used to find out the related factors affecting the cognitive impairment of TLE patients.Results The incidence of cognitive impairment in 80 TLE patients was 38.75％(31/80).Univariate analysis results showed that the cognitive impairment in 80 TLE patients might be affected by the education level,onset age,antiepileptic drug types,seizure types,and seizure frequency(P＜0.05).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that junior high school education and below,young onset age,antiepileptic drug types ≥3,generalized seizures,and seizure frequency＞4 times/month were risk factors for cognitive impairment in TLE patients(P＜0.05).Conclusions TLE patients have a higher risk of cognitive impairment.The occurrence of cognitive impairment is closely related to the factors such as patients'education level,onset age,antiepileptic drug types,seizure types,and seizure frequency.关键词
