摘要

Abstract

Severe vibrations of the engine cylinder liner causes coolant cavitation and results in cavitation erosion. Liner cavitation has been undermining the lifespan and reliability of internal combustion engines. With the continuous improvement of high thermal efficiency and lightweight design requirements of internal combustion engines, the problem of liner cavitation has gained wide academic interest. Early prediction and suppression of liner cavitation are important for clean and efficient internal combustion engines to improve operational reliability and reduce development and maintenance costs. This paper reviews the current research on the prediction and inhibition of liner cavitation and the generation mechanism of liner cavitation, and then it summarizes the solution method of liner vibration. The evaluation methods of liner cavitation risk and the limitations of each type of methods are summarized by experiments and simulations. Afterwards, the current techniques for liner cavitation inhibition are presented. By pointing out the main problems and challenges in the current research on liner cavitation, this paper may provide some guide for future research.
