Dilution,integration and penetration:The event path analysis of local platform enterprises' response to value behavior imbalance

Abstract
As an important carrier to guide the development of local industries,local platform enterprises can use their policy advantages to bring together relevant enterprises and jointly develop local characteristic resources.In this process,local platform enterprises have to adopt value acquisition behaviors to ensure reasonable returns for their enterprises,while implementing value creation behaviors to attract relevant enterprises to explore the potential of resources.As they cannot develop industries themselves,local platform enterprises mostly rely on policies to attract cooperation from relevant corporates,which is highly prone to the risk of over-development of a single value behavior,resulting in the dilemma of imbalanced value behavior.Existing value strategy studies argue that enterprises should maintain the balance between value creation and value acquisition to avoid the hazards caused by excessive value behavior.However,much of this literature focuses on addressing imbalances in value behavior from the perspective of factor regulation,ignoring the significance of the interaction between value creation and value acquisition in addressing imbalances,which can easily lead to a passive situation in the management of imbalances.In fact,in industrial development,local platform enterprises and market players jointly provide the components required to develop value behaviors,and these functions form the basic vehicle for developing industrial segments.To this end,this paper adopts a component interdependence perspective and selects a typical local platform enterprise in the western region of China as the research object to explore the interplay between enterprise value creation and value acquisition,to address the process law of how local platform enterprises respond to the imbalance of value behavior through the structural adjustment of functional interdependence. This study uses a critical event path analysis.Events are not just a representation and record,they are a vehicle for describing the development process of an organization.Key events are the turning points in the development of an organization.The analysis of the organizational development process lies in capturing the state and characteristics of the key events.Firstly,by analyzing the entire process of value behavior imbalance in the case companies,the research team selected six key events.And around the idea of platform companies coping with value behavior imbalance,the development process of JM company was divided into three stages,taking into account the actual development process of the company.Secondly,according to the stage division of the case companies,the researchers conducted three-stage coding.The first coding was mainly to delete and merge similar entries to ensure that the material could focus on the research questions;the second coding was to abstract secondary entries to provide material for the researchers to understand the process patterns;the third coding focused on the combination of data and theory,clarifying the three-dimensional characteristics of closeness,openness,and modularity to provide theoretical support for us to launch the later research process. The results of this study conclude that,1)Excessive value capture stimulates the cultivation of value creation behavior,which requires companies to break the tight functional interdependence of modules,introduce new functions and develop open modules to cope with the resource-grabbing dilemma caused by excessive value acquisition.In this process,open modules evolve from"dependent growth"to"independent development",forming an evolutionary process of functional interdependence in which tight modules support the continuous outward exploration of open modules.2)Excessive value creation will stimulate the development of value acquisition behavior,which requires enterprises to integrate existing functions and solidify open modules,to counteract the risk of blind investment and failure of projects caused by excessive value creation with a stable industrial closed loop.In this process,the tight modules are transformed from"slow contraction"to"rapid emergence",forming an evolutionary process of functional interdependence in which open modules are gradually transformed into tight modules through expansion and fragmentation.3)As the development of special resources continues to progress,local platform enterprises are involved in the development of multiple industrial sectors,and the demands of the partners in these industrial sectors are complex,and an imbalance in value behavior is inevitable.The process of integration dilution and consolidation can form a cross-cutting function and undertake the interaction of value creation and value acquisition and promote the rhythmic development of value behavior.关键词
