Abstract

Rainfall can effectively remove the atmospheric particulate matter that plants leaves behind,but the impact of rainfall intensity on the amount of dust retention on plant leaves at different altitudes is lacking.Based on this,in this study,planted Platycladus orientalis forests at different altitudes in Jiulong Mountain were regarded as the research object,traditional methods were used to determine the amount of atmospheric particulates retained by plant leaves before and after rains of different intensities;furthermore,the influence of precipitation intensity on the retention of water-soluble/insoluble particulate matter in P.orientalis leaves at different altitudes was analyzed.The results showed that,the effect of moderate rain(17.5 mm)on the removal of retained particles in the leaves of P.orientalis at different altitudes was stronger than that of light rain(3.2 mm).After moderate rain,the threshold of the retention of particulate matter by the leaves of P.orientalis was(0.4248±0.0104)g·m-2,and it had nothing to do with the altitude and the amount of retention of particulate matter on the leaf surface before the rainfall.After light rain,the non-water-soluble particles on the leaf surface of P.orientalis at different altitudes had obvious small particle size aggregation into large particle size phenomenon.In low and medium altitude areas,moderate rain mainly affected the amount of large-sized particles on the leaf surface of P.orientalis,while high-altitude areas mainly affected the amount of small-sized particles.The impact of rainfall on non-water-soluble large-size particles was greater than that of water-soluble particles.Light rain increased the percentage of large-sized water-soluble/insoluble particles in the leaves of P.orientalis at different altitudes,and moderate rain increased the percentage of large-sized water-soluble particles in the leaves of P.orientalis at low and high altitudes and the percentages of large-sized insoluble particles at high altitudes,while the percentage of large-size water-soluble/insoluble particles in the leaves of P.orientalis at other altitudes decreased.
