Pilot Protection of Large-scale Renewable Energy Transmission Lines Based on State Estimation

Abstract
Under the background of"carbon peak and neutrality",it has become a major national demand to accelerate the construction of a clean,low-carbon,safe and efficient energy system.However,the renewable energy power supply has an unstable equivalent internal potential,which is fundamentally different from the power supply characteristics of the traditional synchronous generators.The converter control leads to the fault current amplitude being limited and phase being controlled,decreasing the performance of the existing protection methods based on the 50Hz component and threatening the safety and stability of the power grid.This paper proposes a pilot protection of large-scale renewable energy transmission lines based on the state estimation.An accurate line model is built having the consideration of the line distributed capacitance,and the redundancy feature of the dynamic state estimation based on the instantaneous values is used to enhance the quick action and reliability of the protection.The faults are identified by comparing the matching degrees between the proposed model and the actual model.Simulation results show that the proposed protection is able to quickly and reliably identify various types of the internal and external faults within 2ms,and has a better ability to withstand the transition resistances and interferences.关键词
