Abstract

Landslide-generated impulse waves(LGIWs)in reservoirs are secondary disasters of landslides,posing a significant threat to the safety and stable operation of the dam.The RS deposit at the Lancang River,RM hydropower station,is massive and close to the dam.Studying the LGIWs generated by the RS deposit is imperative to the safety design and construction of the RM project.In this paper,a near-field model,which is based on the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics(SPH)method,and a far-field model,which is based on the shallow water equations,are established to simulate the impulse waves generated by the RS deposit at the normal water level of 2895 m.The simulation results are compared with the empirical formula method.The results indicate that the numerical method can accurately simulate the nonlinear flow-solid coupling process of landslide entering the water,and precisely capture the effects of complex terrain during waves propagation and run-up process.This study provides references for assessing the impact of LGIWs generated by RS deposit on engineering safety.
