Report on 52 Cases of Feline Necrotizing Keratitis

Abstract
Feline necrotizing keratitis is a common corneal disease in cats,with limited research and varied treatment approaches in China.This study collected 52 cases(56 affected eyes)of feline necrotizing keratitis seen at the China Agricultural University Veterinary Teaching Hospital from January 2019 to January 2021.The cases were statistically analyzed to summarize the characteristic clinical symptoms of the disease and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of different treatment options.The results showed that the most common breed affected by feline necrotizing keratitis was the Exotic shorthair(22/52,42.3%),and the most affected age group was<7 years old(50/52,96.2%).Chronic corneal irritation was a common cause of the disease.Among the 52 cases,34 cases(38 affected eyes)underwent keratectomy,with 22 affected eyes undergoing third eyelid covering surgery and 16 affected eyes undergoing conjunctival flap covering surgery simultaneously.Two cases experienced recurrence of necrotizing keratitis after surgery,both in young Sphinx cats.These results indicate that keratectomy is the preferred treatment for feline necrotizing keratitis,although residual necrotic cornea may lead to postoperative recurrence.关键词
