Abstract
After earning his degree in 1938 from Tsinghua University's Department of History,Huang Mingxin,a native of Mianyang in Hubei Province,went on to become a well-known Tibetan studies scholar.He started studying in Gansu Province's Labrang Monastery in 1940 and after eight years,earned a degree in Tibetan Buddhism known as Ranjianba.He began working at the Ethnic Pub-lishing House and the CPC Central Committee's Ethnic Affairs Commission in 1949.He was sus-pected of being a rightist in 1958 and worked for twenty years as a laborer on farms in Chang-zhi,Shanxi Province.
Huang contributed to the compilation of the Great Tibetan-Chinese Dictionary in 1978.Subse-quently,on Yu Daoquan's recommendation,Huang began working in the Beijing Library,where he spent 20 years organizing and cataloguing old Tibetan volumes.He made significant contributions to Tibetan astronomy,Tibetan Buddhism,Tibetan history,Tibetan lexicography,and Tibetan bibliography as a Tibetologist.Using a variety of sources,including Huang's diary,correspondence,academic publica-tions,and other pertinent papers,this research examined the chronology of Huang Minxin's life in detail,focusing in particular on the significant actions pertaining to Tibetan studies.关键词
