"Meeting the Need for Time"and"Pursuing Excellence":Reflections on the Cultivation of Rural Governance Major

Abstract
To meet the practical needs of Rural Governance talents in rural revitalization,the Rural Governance major has emerged in response to the current situation.Starting in 2023,Hainan University has taken the lead in its enrollment,bringing the professionalization of Rural Governance to a new stage.However,as a new major,the development of Rural Governance has the policy dividends of na-tional strategies like rural revitalization strategy,the urgent demand for high-quality governance talents in rural areas,and the historical opportunities of the"four new"reforms in higher education;with the support of the"double first-class"construction of colleges and universities,the advantages of multi-dis-ciplinary integration,and the latecomer advantages of new majors;however,there are also disadvantages such as unclear disciplinary connotations,immature talent cultivation plans and models,and incomplete teaching staff and conditions;at the same time,it also faces threats such as competition for enrollment source,blocks employment channels,and alternative competition in other similar majors.So,to truly a-chieve excellence in Rural Governance,it is necessary to clarify the subject and professional connota-tion,accurately position the profession,scientifically formulate talent training plans,optimize the curric-ulum system,strengthen resource investment,improve teaching conditions,strengthen training quality,and establish market reputation.关键词
