Abstract
Tree peony(Paeonia suffruticosa)is a species endemic to China,with high ornamental,economic and cultural values,and the study of new variety resources is of great significance for its protection and reasonable application.The paper introduces the institutions responsible for the protection and management of new tree peony varieties,reviews the authorization,the registration and the improved species validation of new tree peony varieties in China in the past 20 years,and analyzes the existing problems,including the need to better improve ornamental traits and to strengthen the promotion,protection and management of new varieties.On this basis,it is suggested to expand the parental range,accelerate the popularization and breeding of new and superior varieties and construct a DNA molecular database of tree peony resources,in order to help the protection and management of new varieties of tree peony.关键词
