摘要

Abstract

To gain a deeper understanding of the distribution characteristics and underlying sources of heavy metal pollution in the surface sediments in the Zhoushan coastal area,Zhejiang Province,an investigation was conducted in August 2018.The study examined the distribution of 7 heavy metals(Cu,Zn,Pb,Cd,Cr,Hg,As)across 29 surface sediment samples collected from the Zhoushan coast.The positive definite factor matrix(PFM)was employed to elucidate the origins of heavy metal contamination in the surface sediments of Zhoushan City,while the pollution levels and potential ecological risks associated with these heavy metals were assessed using the potential ecological risk index method.The findings revealed the following key points:①The average con-centrations of the heavy metals followed the order Zn>Cr>Cu>Pb>As>Cd>Hg.While the concentrations generally decreased from west to east,certain areas exhibited high values.The spatial variability of the heavy metals was ranked as follows Pb>Cu>Cd>Cr>Zn>As>Hg.② Three primary pollution sources were identified by PFM source apportionment model,which were transportation activities,industrial production activities,and agricultural production activities.③ The results of ecological risk in-dex method indicated that the potential ecological risk coefficients of the heavy metals were ranked as follows:Cd>Hg>Cu>Pb>As>Cr>Zn.Cd and Hg emerged as the predominant potential ecological risk factors in the Zhoushan coastal area.These re-sults underscore the significant influence of human activities on the distribution of heavy metals in the surface sediments of the Zhoushan coastal area,highlighting the need for more comprehensive risk assessments to safeguard marine environments and eco-logical health.
