Research on Fractal Characteristics and Reservoir Forming Mechanism of Deep Coal Rock in Benxi Formation,Central-Eastern Ordos Basin

Abstract
Experimental analysis was conducted on the industrial composition,physical properties,and pore characteristics of the repre-sentative samples of the 8#coal rock in the Carboniferous Benxi Formation.The heterogeneity of coal pores was studied using fractal di-mension,and the influence mechanism of the industrial composition on reservoirs was clarified.The results show that,(1)The permeability and pore connectivity of the 8#coal rock of the Benxi Formation in the central-eastern Ordos Basin are good,and the industrial composition and reservoir properties of the middle and upper coal rock are better than those of the lower part.(2)The fractal dimension of the pores in the study area is high,the pore structure is complex,and the reservoir heterogeneity is strong.When the ash content of samples is less than 20%,a small amount of minerals fill the pores and cracks,reducing the complexity of the pore structure and gradually homogeni-zing the reservoir;When the ash content exceeds 20%,a large amount of impurity mineral cement fill the pores and cracks,leading to enhanced heterogeneity of the reservoir.(3)The porosity of coal rock is influenced by ash content and degree of thermal evolution.When the ash content is low,the coal with high thermal evolution develops a large number of micropores,resulting in an increase in po-rosity.However,this can lead to complex pore structures and enhanced heterogeneity.(4)Based on experimental results and industrial composition,the diffusion and migration of gas in deep coal seams are studied.It is recommended to use the middle and upper coal rock with low ash content and low water content(Ad<20%,Mad<2%)as high-quality production layer for deep coalbed methane.This study provides a certain theoretical basis for the exploration and development of deep coalbed methane in the study area in the future.关键词
