Study on the Minimum Requirements Rules for Service Contracts under the US Ocean Shipping Reform Act of 2022
摘要
Abstract
On June 13,2022,President Joe Biden of the United States officially enacted the Ocean Shipping Reform Act of 2022.This landmark legislation was introduced primarily as a remedial measure against the soaring shipping rates plaguing the country. The bill is geared towards safeguarding the interests of shipping liners and enforcing rigorous austerity measures on the shipping management system.According to the act,the US Federal Maritime Commission is authorized to develop minimum contract requirements for service agreements and the essential terms. The provisions outlined in this clause will exert a profound influence on the free negotiation on service contracts between shippers and cargo owners, regulating their performance under the contract, assigning responsibilities for contract breaches, and even the international liner shipping industry.关键词
