Abstract

Hydrazine carbonate is widely applicable as a basic salt-free reagent for washing contaminated solvents in the plutonium-uranium redox extraction processes.Herein,dibutyl phosphate(HDBP)and Zr(Ⅳ)in 30%TBP-n-dodecane organic solution were washed using a hydrazine carbonate solution.The effects of oscillation time,tem-perature,the volume ratio of the aqueous phase to the organic phase,the mass fraction of hydrazine carbonate,and the concentration of dibutyl phosphate(HDBP)on the removal percentage of HDBP and Zr(Ⅳ)by hydrazine car-bonate washing were investigated using the principle of a single variable.The results showed that the removal per-centages of HDBP were approximately 98.7%and 88.1%for 0.1 g/L and 0.5 g/L,respectively,after washing the same volume of organic solution thrice with 5%hydrazine carbonate at 25℃with 15 min of oscillation time.Moreover,the presence of HDBP promoted organic relative Zr(Ⅳ)extraction and retention.In addition,the re-moval of Zr(Ⅳ)by hydrazine carbonate was 98.5%in the absence of HDBP.
