Development of a Measuring Device for Escalator Speed and Stopping Distance Based on Time of Flight

Abstract
A non-contact measurement method based on time of flight is proposed for testing the speed and stopping distance of escalators,and corresponding devices are developed.When measuring the running speed,place the laser ranging module above the middle section of the escalator,measure the vertical height change and rising speed of the steps,calculate the vertical rising speed,and then calculate the running speed of the escalator based on the inclination angle of the escalator.When measuring the stopping distance,place the current sensing module at the power circuit line,and trigger the laser ranging module to enter the stopping distance measurement mode by detecting the on/off of the power circuit current.Measure the vertical rise distance of the steps after the power outage,and then convert it into the stopping distance of the escalator through calculation.Development based on the handheld device of the μC/OS-III real-time operating system is used to control the switch of the laser ranging module and collect/display the escalator speed and stopping distance.The laser ranging module,current sensing module,and handheld module are connected via Zigbee wireless network.The experimental results show that the devicecan effectively measure the running speed and stopping distance of escalators,and is easy to install,with high repeatability,and can improve inspection efficiency and accuracy.关键词
