Abstract

In order to screen suitable wheat resources for processing dry wheatear flower arrangement(wheatear flower)both in agronomic traits and molecular genetics and provide new raw materials for serving the development of dry flower industry in Yunnan,the current study took two wheat varieties Yunsheng 1 and Yunmai 53 as controls and three traits including awn length,spike length and stem strength which were ap-proved by the wheatear flower processing enterprises as important indicators.The traits in 42 long-awned wheat germplasm resources were measured and evaluated,and the trait of stem strength was selected using related SSR molecular markers reported in literatures.The results showed that after two years of observation in field and data analysis,no material was found with all the three traits superior to the two control varieties.C6(triti-cale)was superior to the two controls in awn length,and the difference was not obvious or excellent in spike length and stem strength,which was one excellent material more suitable for processing wheatear flower.Be-sides,C3 and C9 were also more suitable resources for processing wheatear flower because the values of spike length and stem strength were better than or not obviously different from those of the two controls.C4,C5,C7 and C8 were also suitable for processing wheatear flower because the spike length was significantly better than that of Yunmai 53,and the awn length and stem strength had no obvious or ecellent differences.The results of SSR molecular marker-assisted selection for stem strength showed that C4 and C6 might have the same SSR lo-ci of BARC59,BARC134 and WMC48 as Yunmai 53 and the same locus of BARC59 as Yunsheng 1.C3,C5,C8 might have the same loci of BARC59,BARC134 and WMC48 as Yunmai 53 and the same loci of BARC59 and BARC358 as Yunsheng 1.C9 might have the same loci of BARC59 and BARC134 as Yunmai 53 and the same loci of BARC59 and WMC48 as Yunsheng 1.However,these primers might not be suitable as molecular markers for stem strength selection,because the consistency between the results of markers and phenotypic e-valuation was less than 50%.In the future,it would be necessary to screen indicators and molecular markers for evaluating wheat germplasm resources for processing wheatear flower,so as to provide technical supports for breeding wheat varieties to meet the production requirements.
