Carbon Emission Analysis and Carbon Reduction Techniques for Gabion Ecological Retaining Walls in Tunnel Dumps

Abstract
There are plenty of waste slags in the highway and railway tunnel engineering,and those waste slags have a negative impact on the environment.Therefore,concrete retaining wall,which would be constructed in order to maintain the spoil stability,can emit much CO2.Aimed at above problem,advantages of Gabion ecological retaining wall is analyzed.Then carbon emission factor method is adopted to calculate the carbon emission of Gabion ecological retaining wall and traditional concrete retaining wall for case study.Furthermore,the influence of parameters on carbon emission is analyzed.It also gives the prospect of applying Gabion ecological retaining wall in the new Meizhou to Longchuan Railway project.Through the above research,the main conclusions are as follows:(1)Gabion ecological retaining wall has the characteristics of safety and durability,good water permeability,ecological environmental protection,high economic benefits and convenient construction;(2)Gabion ecological retaining wall carbon emissions are only 12%of the traditional concrete retaining wall with a good reduction of carbon emissions;(3)With the increase of slag transport distance,concrete transport distance,material consumption and other parameters,the total carbon emissions of the two schemes will increase;(4)All the waste from the new Meizhou to Longchuan Railway is used for gabion ecological retaining wall,which is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 7.74×105 t compared with the traditional concrete retaining wall scheme.关键词
