Abstract

The evolution of wetland landscape pattern is related to the stability of regional ecological service function and sustainable development of ecological economy.In order to explore the impact of county-level economic development on the evolution of wetland landscape pattern,this study took Yangxin County that is located in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River as an example.The theories and methods of landscape ecology were used to explore the wetland landscape pattern changes and the influencing factors in Yangxin County.The results showed that 1)from 1980 and 2020,the total wetland area in Yangxin County showed a trend of reduction,decreasing from 851.03 to 836.39 km2.The area of constructed wetlands showed a de-creasing trend,while the area of natural wetlands showed an overall increasing trend.The loss of paddy fields was most significant in the constructed wetlands,reaching 43.72 km2,mainly converted to dry land,forest and grassland,lakes,and construction land.Among the natural wetlands,the lake area increased by 22.09 km2,mainly due to the conversion from paddy fields and dry land.2)Paddy fields and lakes were the dominant landscape types in Yangxin County.The wetland landscape tended to be fragmented in general,with paddy fields being the highest degree of fragmentation and lakes and rivers being a relatively high de-gree of aggregation.3)In areas with sufficient rainfall,the impact of precipitation on wetland area was not significant.However,temperature rise,population,secondary and tertiary industries for land demand were the main factors for the decrease of wetland.The protection policies,such as returning farmland to lakes and returning dikes to lakes,were the main factors for the increase of the area of natural wetland lakes.4)Comparing the differences of wetland landscape pattern in Yangxin County and Wuhan City,it was found that county lakes had been effectively restored due to wetland protection policies,while urban lakes had been reduced and fragmented due to large land demand.
