Analysis of Outpatient Diseases in Geriatric Department of a Tertiary General Hospital in Guangdong Province in 2022

Abstract
Objective To understand the current situation of geriatric outpatient services in a tertiary general hospital in Guangdong Province,and to provide data support for exploring healthy aging.Methods The outpatient data of geriatrics department in a tertiary general hospital in 2022 were analyzed.The differences in age distribution,cost payment methods,registration categories,treatment measures between different genders were analyzes,as well as the distribution of diseases and the distribution at the time of treatment.Results A total of 31 888 outpatients were included in the geriatric department,with a total of 8366 people.Among the 8366 people,4810 were aged 60 and above,accounting for 57.49％.There were statistically significant differences in the proportion of age,payment method,registration category,initial diagnosis and treatment measures among geriatric outpatients of different genders(P＜0.05).According to the ICD-10 of the first diagnosis of outpatients,the top two diseases in the top 10 diseases were idiopathic(primary)hypertension(24.72％)and atherosclerotic heart disease(20.37％).The top two diseases with higher first visit rate in the top 10 diseases were dizziness and vertigo(25.08％)and non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus without complications(8.39％).In terms of treatment time,the distribution of the top 10 diseases was slightly different,but most of them were concentrated at 8:00-11:00 in the morning and 15:00-17:00 in the afternoon.The treatment time of individual diseases such as dizziness and vertigo was mainly in the morning time period,and less in the aftemoon.Conclusion There are more patients in the outpatient department of geriatrics,and the proportion of idiopathic(primary)hypertension and atherosclerotic heart disease is relatively high,which is not conducive to the development of the discipline.The department needs to further optimize the allocation of resources and improve the ability of comprehensive disease treatment,so as to better serve the elderly patients and meet the health needs of the elderly.关键词
