Abstract
Objective To analyze the risk factors for unqualified cleaning of surgical instruments in the Central Sterile Supply Department(CSSD),in order to improve cleaning quality and reduce hospital infections.Methods A total of 1,800 pieces of recovered surgical instruments were selected from the sterilization supply center of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Nanyang Medical College between January 2023 and November 2023.All of the instruments were cleaned by an automatic cleaning machine.The instruments were then divided into two groups:those that were not adequately cleaned and those that were.The general data regarding medical equipment cleaning were analyzed,and single-factor and multi-factor analysis were conducted using chi-square and logistic regression.The chi-square test and logistic regression analysis method were employed to identify the independent risk factors associated with the unqualified cleaning of surgical instruments in the CSSD.Results Of the 1 800 devices,1 773 were deemed suitable for use and were placed in the qualified group,while 27 were deemed unsuitable and were placed in the unqualified group.The qualified rate was thus 98.50%.The two groups of medical device use time,degree of contamination,medical device recovery to cleaning time,operating table status,and cleaning agent selection exhibited no statistically significant differences(P＞0.05).However,the unqualified group operator cognitive deficiency was identified as a contributing factor.The pre-processing procedures were not standardized,the structure of the cleaning instrument was complex and not strictly compliant with the cleaning operation procedures,and this accounted for a higher percentage than that of the qualified group.The difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).Following multifactorial logistic regression analysis,it was determined that the lack of cognition on the part of operators,the non-standardized pretreatment,the complex structure of cleaning instruments,and the failure to strictly comply were independent risk factors for the failure of surgical instruments in the CSSD.The difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion The failure to clean surgical instruments in the central sterile supply department(CSSD)is related to the operator's lack of knowledge,non-standard pretreatment,the complex structure of cleaning instruments,and failure to comply with the cleaning operation process.Consequently,medical and nursing personnel engaged in the handling of surgical instruments should engage in regular reinforcement of their professional knowledge and operational skills training with respect to the aforementioned risk factors in their daily work.This is to improve the quality of surgical instrument cleaning,reduce the failure rate of instrument cleaning,and reduce the risk of nosocomial infection.Therefore,the quality of surgical instrument cleaning should be improved,the failure rate of instrument cleaning should be reduced,and the risk of nosocomial infection should be reduced.关键词
