Research Progress on the Biological Functions of Essential Fatty Acids and Its Applications in Sheep Production
摘要
Abstract
Essential fatty acids are essential nutrients in animals,including linoleic acid,linolenic acid and arachidonic acid.In addition to being a nutrient,essential fatty acids also play a positive role in maintaining normal physiological functions,alleviating oxidative stress and improving production performance in animals.Studies in sheep production at home and abroad showed that essential fatty acids play an important role in promoting growth performance,enhancing immune function and improving reproductive performance.However,the current requirements for essential fatty acids in various stages of sheep growth have not been clearly defined.Therefore,in order to provide theoretical reference for further research and application of essential fatty acids in sheep production,this article mainly reviewed the physicochemical properties of essential fatty acids,introduced the metabolic process of essential fatty acids in ruminants and emphatically summarized the physiological functions of essential fatty acids and their utilization in sheep production.关键词
