摘要

Abstract

A new cubic quasicrystal approximant phase α'-AlMnSi,with space group Im(3)was discovered from the educts obtained by spark plasma sintering of mixed Al,Mn and Si in the stoichiometric ratio 74∶20∶6 and determined by mainly by single-crystal X-ray diffraction combined with scanning electron microscope equipped with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy.The new phase is different from the previously reported primitive cubic phase α-AlMnSi with space group Pm(3)although they have quite similar lattice parameters.The refined structural model of the new phase has been compared with available refined crystal structure models of α-AlMnSi,α-AlFeSi as well as α-AlReSi,which suggest that the transformation between the α-AlMnSi(Pm(3))to the α'-AlMnSi(Im(3))is dominated by the splitting of Al atoms.Finally,the topological building units of the α'-AlMnSi phase has been analyzed in detail by the nanocluster method.
