Abstract
With the rapid expansion of Chinese cities,the traditional neighborhoods with local architectural and cultural characteristics have suffered great damages in their historical appearance.The protection and renewal of block morphology faces serious practical challenges.It is necessary to establish a systematic supporting system from the aspects of theory,practice and participation to ensure the success and sustainability of urban renewal.This paper adopts the concept and methods of urban morphology,and analyzes the ground level,building types,and architecture and land use functions of Suzhou Huanxiu District.It reveals the basic laws and motivations of its evolution,discovers the morphological characteristics of this area,discusses its advantages and disadvantages,and explores the strategies for applying morphology to the protection and renewal of traditional blocks,providing a reference for the protection and renewal of traditional blocks.关键词
