The role of AMPAR subunit GluA4 in brain function and neuropsychiatric diseases

Abstract
The expression of AMPA receptor(α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid receptor,AMPAR)subunit GluA4 is developmentally regulated in different brain regions and different types of cells,and the GluA4 homotetramer receptors characterized by high Ca2+permeability and sub-millisecond gating dynamics underlie fast synaptic responses and high-fidelity neurotransmission.They play an important role in neural circuit formation and neural information transmission.More and more studies have shown that abnormal GluA4 expression may disrupt the discharge rhythm of neural circuits,hinder neural information transmission,and impair learning and memory,leading to the occurrence of neuropsychiatric diseases such as epilepsy and Alzheimer's disease.This article reviews the current research on the role of GluA4 in normal physiological functions of the brain and neuropsychiatric diseases such as depression,Alzheimer's disease,schizophrenia,and epilepsy.关键词
