Mediating effect of alexithymia on depression in patients with dysphagia and the role of family supporta

Abstract
Objective To investigate the influencing factors of depression in patients with dysphagia and to explore the mediating effect of alexithymia between depression and family support in these patients.Methods A total of 128 patients with dysphagia admitted to Shenzhen Guangming District People's Hospital from March 2019 to September 2023 were selected as research subjects.They were surveyed using a general information questionnaire,Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale,Family Support Scale,and Alexithymia Scale.Multiple linear regression analysis was employed to analyze the influencing factors of depression,and AMOS 24.0 was adopted to con-struct a structural equation model to test the mediating effect.A total of 128 questionnaires were distributed,and 126 valid question-naires were returned,leading to an effective recovery rate of 98.44％.Results The average score for depression in the 126 patients with dysphagia was(68.57±17.43)points,with 83 cases complicated by depression,giving a prevalence rate of 65.87％.Pearson correlation analysis showed that family support was negatively correlated with depression,while alexithymia was positively correlated with depression(P＜0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis indicated that family support,alexithymia,age,marital status,and disease duration were all influencing factors in patients with dysphagia complicated by depression(P＜0.05).Structural equation mod-el analysis revealed that alexithymia exerts a partial mediating effect between depression and family support in patients with dysphagia,with a mediating effect value of-0.395,accounting for 57.92％.Conclusion The prevalence rate of patients with dysphagia compli-cated by depression remains high,and factors such as family support,alexithymia,age,marital status,and disease duration are all in-fluencing factors.Alexithymia plays a partial mediating role between depression and family support in patients with dysphagia,and targeted intervention measures can be formulated to ameliorate the patients'depressive state.关键词
