Current status and influencing factors of traditional Chinese Medicine health literacy among college students in medical schools

Abstract
Objective This study aims to investigate the level of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)health literacy among college students in medical schools and analyze the main influencing factors,in order to provide scientific evidence for promoting TCM health education among college students.Methods Convenient sampling method was used to select 639 undergraduate students from four grades in a medical school from November 2022 to February 2023.The"2022 Survey Questionnaire on TCM Health Literacy Among Chinese Citizens"was used for data collection.Statistical methods including independent sample t-test,analysis of variance,and multi-ple linear regression analysis were employed.Results The level of TCM health literacy among students in this medical school in 2022 was 15.34％.Among them,the literacy in basic concepts of TCM accounted for 32.86％,literacy in TCM healthy lifestyle,43.97％;literacy in appropriate TCM methods for the public,15.02％;literacy in TCM cultural knowledge,30.05％;and literacy in under-standing TCM information,15.81％.The level of TCM health literacy among college students showed statistically significant differ-ences in terms of gender,grade,monthly living expenses,and parents'educational level(P＜0.05).Multiple linear regression analy-sis revealed that health quality and information acquisition channels were the main influencing factors of TCM health literacy among college students in medical schools(P＜0.001).Conclusion The level of TCM health literacy among college students in medical schools remains relatively low.The role of TCM in health care should be fully utilized to enhance the life and health quality of college students.Innovative TCM education service models should be developed using mass media to raise the level of TCM health literacy a-mong college students.关键词
