Correlation between bone loss in the occupational population and occupational exposure in Changshou District

Abstract

Objective This paper aims to analyze the impact of other dust and dimethylformamide on bone mass and provide evidence for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in the occupational population.Methods In 2023,ultrasound bone density detectors were used to measure bone mass in occupational populations exposed to other dust,dimethylformamide,and non-exposed individuals.Occu-pational exposure risk factors were monitored,and questionnaires were conducted.Single-factor analysis and multiple-factor logistic re-gression were used to analyze the correlation between abnormal bone mass and dust and dimethylformamide.Results Overall,the bone mass of 605 occupational individuals was studied.Among them,99 were exposed to other dust,with an abnormal bone mass rate of 72.72%;66 to dimethylformamide,with an abnormal bone mass rate of 45.45%;135 individuals to both,with an abnormal bone mass rate of 67.40%;and 305 individuals were not exposed to either,with an abnormal bone mass rate of 45.57%,with significant differences among the four groups(P<0.05).The results of multiple-factor logistic regression analysis showed that,without adjus-ting for covariates,the odds ratio(OR)for dust exposure compared to non-exposure was 6.34(95%CI:2.58-15.59).After adjus-ting for covariates,the OR for dust exposure was 4.00(95%CI:1.52-10.54).Dimethylformamide exposure had no effect on ab-normal bone mass(P>0.05).Conclusion Exposure to other dust is correlated with abnormal bone mass,and early detection and in-tervention of abnormal bone mass in the occupational population should be performed.
