Analysis of factors influencing the clustering and outbreak of norovirus infections in schools and childcare institutions in Nan'an district

Abstract
Objective This study aimed to analyze the factors influencing the clustering and outbreak of Norovirus infections in schools and childcare in-stitutions(referred to as schools)in Nan'an District,providing a basis for exploring comprehensive prevention and control measures for Norovirus in-fections that are suitable for the actual situation in this district.Methods A case-control study was conducted,selecting 24 schools in Nan'an District that experienced Norovirus infection outbreaks from 2020 to 2021 as the case group,and 110 schools that did not experience Norovirus infections as the control group.The basic conditions of the schools,facilities,and equipment,and implementation of infectious disease prevention and control measures were compared for analyses of the factors influencing the occurrence of Norovirus infections.Results The clustering of Norovirus infections is influenced by multiple factors.Measures such as timely identification and reporting of the source of infection,as well as the number of students and staff,showed a significant impact on the transmission of Norovirus in schools(P＜0.05).Conclusion Schools are high-risk areas for Norovirus infec-tion outbreaks.The health and education administrative departments should further improve the joint prevention and control mechanism,strengthen guidance on the prevention and control of infectious disease outbreaks in schools,and continuously enhance awareness of epidemic monitoring and re-porting.关键词
