Abstract

Currently,Fengxian No.1 Water Treatment Plant(WTP)adopts polyacrylamide as coagulant aid for supernatant from advection concentrated tank,and the use of polyacrylamide restricts the reuse of the supernatant from advection concentrated tank according to the regulations of Shanghai Water Supply Group Standard.In this study,it is explored the feasibility of replacing polyacrylamide with two inorganic coagulants,aluminium sulphate and polymeric aluminium chloride,and compared the effects of the three coagulants on the floc sedimentation rate and finished water quality of the supernatant from advection concentrated tank of Fengxian No.1 WTP through a small test and a pilot test.The results show that the flocculation rate of aluminium sulphate and polymeric aluminium chloride treatment is second only to polyacrylamide,and the finished water quality is better.The pilot test results show that the application of aluminum sulfate in autumn and polyaluminum chloride in winter has a good coagulation effect on this scale.The results of economic analysis show that the cost of using aluminium sulphate and polymeric aluminium chloride is lower.Therefore,these two inorganic coagulants have the feasibility of replacing polyacrylamide.
