Impacts of family function and positive coping strategies on parental burnout of children with autism spectrum disorder

Abstract
Objective To analyze the impacts of family function and positive coping strategies on parental burnout of children with autism spectrum disorder(ASD).Methods According to the convenient sampling method,parents of children with ASD diagnosed in Dongguan Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital from June 2022 to May 2023 were selected as the experimental group(n=60),while parents of healthy and normal children were selected as the control group(n=60).The family function problems were compared between the two groups.Pearson correlation method was used to analyze the relationship between family function,parental burnout and positive coping strategies in the experimental group.Bootstrap method was used to test the mediation effect.The impacting factors of parental burnout were analyzed by multiple linear regression.Results There were statistically significant differences between the two groups in the dimensions of family function rating scale,simple coping strategies scale(positive coping),parental burnout scale,autism behavior scale,autism rating scale for children,activities of daily living scale and children's developmental behavior assessment scale(P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that there was a significant negative correlation between family function,positive coping strategies and parental burnout(r=-0.186,-0.898,P=0.006,0.004),and there was a significant positive correlation between family function and positive coping strategies(r=0.048,P=0.005).Positive coping strategies partially mediated the overall family function and parental burnout,and the indirect effect accounted for 37.98%of the total effect.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that family function rating scale,simple coping strategies scale,autism behavior scale,autism rating scale for children,activities of daily living scale,and children's developmental behavior assessment scale scores were the influencing factors of parental burnout of children with ASD(P<0.05).Conclusion Family function and positive coping strategies play an important role in parental burnout of children with ASD.关键词
