Analysis on Axial Compression Performance of Rectangular Steel Tube Confined Concrete Short Columns

Abstract
An in-depth analysis was conducted to evaluate the axial compression performance of rectangular steel tube confined concrete short columns with internal stiffeners by utilizing a non-linear finite element method that considered the interaction between steel and concrete interfaces.The analysis results show that the axial compression failure process of these short columns exhibits significant elastic-plastic characteristics.During failure,the longitudinal stress within the steel tube remains consistently high along the central axis,while the transverse stress only peaks at the corner points of the wall panels.The implementation of internal stiffeners,specifically perforated steel plates affixed to the inner wall of the steel tube,effectively mitigates the buckling deformation of the steel tube's wall panels,and improves the bending form of the steel plate.Moreover,the presence of these perforated steel plate stiffeners contributes significantly to the concrete confinement effect,reinforcing the steel wall panels within the tube.关键词
