Analysis of Block Mesh Size for Calculating Raft Foundation Settlement Using Tangent Modulus Method

Abstract
When using the tangent modulus method to calculate the settlement of raft foundations,it is necessary to divide the soil layer at the bottom of the raft into block meshes on the horizontal plane.However,in practical applications,the mesh size is related to the shape of the foundation,the size of the foundation,and human selection.In order to explore the impact of mesh size on the settlement calculation results in practical applications,this article focuses on a rectangular raft foundation on a uniform and deep soil layer,treating the raft as a flexible plate and an elastic plate for settlement calculation analysis.It is concluded that the influence of mesh size on the settlement results can be ignored in flexible plates,and can be ignored in elastic plates with loads within the normal range of use.This indicates that the tangent modulus method is a practical method for calculating the settlement of raft foundations.关键词
