Seismic Performance of Energy-Dissipating Braced Frame Structures with Web-Openings

Abstract
The steel frame centrally-braced structure is a double lateral force resistant structural system.In order to avoid instability of the centrally-braced diagonal brace under horizontal load,an energy-dissipating brace with web-opening is proposed,which is connected to the steel frame with high-strength bolts,thus forming an energy-dissipating braced frame structure,in which the energy-dissipating brace is easy to replace after the damage.The energy dissipation plates of the energy-dissipating brace are in the form of symmetrical openings and S-shaped openings.The effect of the thickness,length and opening spacing of the energy dissipation webs on the hysteresis performance of the energy-dissipating brace and the braced frame is analyzed using ABAQUS.The results show that the braced diagonal bars of the two forms of energy-dissipating braced frame structures do not prone to instability,and the hysteresis curves of the structures are full and without pinching.The energy-dissipating brace mainly relies on the plates between the openings of the webs to be the first to enter plasticity to dissipate most of the energy.The bearing capacity and stiffness of the energy-dissipating braced frame structure with symmetrical openings are greater than those with S-shaped openings,but the advantage of large deformation of the S-shaped openings is more obvious in the later loading stage,and the energy dissipation of structure with S-shaped openings is more efficient.关键词
