Abstract

This paper systematically studied the effect of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS),a widely used anionic surfactant,on the removal of pollutants[ammonia nitrogen,total phosphorus(TP),and nitrate nitrogen]in biological ponds,as well as the selection of different coagulants[polyaluminum chloride(PAC),aluminum sulfate(AS),polyferric sulfate(PFS),and ferric chloride(FeCl3)]for SDBS removal efficiency and optimal dosing sites.The experimental results showed that the removal rates of ammonia nitrogen and TP significantly decreased with the increase of SDBS concentration.SDBS had a significant inhibitory effect on the removal of the above two pollutants,while SDBS had little effect on the removal of nitrate nitrogen.Through further experiments,it was found that FeCl3 as a coagulant could more effectively remove SDBS.When the optimal mass ratio of FeCl3 to SDBS was 3:1,the removal rate of SDBS could reach 78.3%.The addition of FeCl3 to the lift pump station,the outlet of the primary sedimentation tank,and the external reflux had a significant removal effect on SDBS,but the optimal removal efficiency was achieved when adding FeCl3 to the outlet water of the primary sedimentation tank.
