Contact Stress and Fatigue Life Analysis of Tapered Roller Bearings for Wind Turbine Based on Romax Flexible Model

Abstract
Bearings are the core components of high-performance wind turbines.To develop wind turbine bearings with higher performance,it is necessary to make a reasonable evaluation of the performance and fatigue life of bearings.A new method based on the classical theory and the results of simulation is proposed to evaluate the performance indicators of bearing.A flexible model of an actual operational wind turbine is built by Romax software,with full consideration of the composite load of wind turbine,then the influence of rolling element crown drop is analyzed.The result indicates that the proposed method has considered the influence of components deformation on bearing load and calculate the reasonable fatigue life of bearings.For the comparison of different crown drops,an insufficient crown drop of tapered roller will lead to stress concentration,while an excessive one will shorten the contact area.The appropriate crown drop of tapered roller needs to be analyzed specifically based on the load conditions.关键词
