摘要

Abstract

Objective This study aimed to investigate the situation of non-tuberculous mycobacterium(NTM)contamination in heater-cooler unit(HCU)used in cardiopulmonary bypass.Methods Water samples were collected from the nineteen HCU in our hospital and sent for NTM culture.Furtherly,NTM-positvie heater-cooler devices were sampled in water tank biofilm and air outlet for NTM identification via sequencing two DNA regions in rpoβ and 16S rRNA.Results Water samples from four HCU were tested NTM positive.In two HCUs,M.chimaera were detected in both the water tank biofilms and air outlets.In the third HCU,M.chimaera was detected only in water tank biofilm.In the last HCU,M.chimaera and M.gordonae were detected in water tank biofilm and air outlet,respectively.Conclusion Several HCUs in our hospital were contaminated with NTM(mostly with M.chimera).Measure should be taken to reduce the risks of NTM contamination and HCU-related NTM infection:frequent NTM monitoring,using filtered tap water,scheduled biofilm removal,optimal HCU disinfection protocol,and placing HCU's exhaust flow away from the operating field.
