Research advance in porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus as a live vector to express foreign genes

Abstract
Since the first isolation of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus(PRRSV)in the United States(1987)and Europe(1990),the virus has been circulating globally for over 30 years.Until today,PRRSV continues to mutate and evolve,and its epidemic situation in China is particu-larly complex.In the post African swine fever era,it remains one of the most economically significant pathogens affecting the pig farming industry.Currently,commercially available vaccines include tra-ditional inactivated virus vaccines(KV)and modified live virus vaccines(MLV).However,vaccine preven-tion and control of PRRSV have not yet been fully implemented.There is an urgent need to develop a safe,effective,and universal genetic engineering vaccine.Based on PRRSV infectious cloning reverse genet-ic platform,the expression of foreign genes,including marker genes,immune enhancing genes,or other viral antigen genes,has become a research hotspot.The construction of recombinant vaccines,gene dele-tion vaccines,and broad-spectrum universal vaccines is needed.Herein,we review the research advance of PRRSV as a live vector for expressing foreign genes and its potential application prospects in the development of new genetic engineering vaccines in recent years.关键词
