Study on synergistic deformation and damage behavior of asphalt mixture with built-in sensors

Abstract
This paper aimed to reveal the evolutionary patterns of the collaborative performance between strain sensor and asphalt mixture,and to enhance the practical value and environmental adaptability of the measured data from the sensors.Based on the digital image correlation(DIC)technology and direct tensile beam tests,the strain response of the asphalt mixture specimens with built-in sensors was investigated under multiple stress modes.The deformation coordination performance between the sensors and the asphalt mixtures was analyzed under different temperature conditions.By utilizing the acoustic emission signals and digital image features obtained from four-point bending tests,the structural damage evolution of asphalt mixtures with built-in sensors was revealed.The results indicate that the deformation coordination characteristics of asphalt mixtures with built-in strain sensors are closely related to the type,magnitude,and response time of the load,and the strain response of the sensors exhibits strong temperature sensitivity.In an environment between 30℃and 50℃,the accuracy of the strain response of the sensors deteriorates significantly,with the average absolute error(Eˉa)and relative error(Eˉr)increasing by 3.49~11.79 times and 2.01~2.91 times,respectively.The acoustic emission energy signals accurately characterize the four-stage damage evolution characteristics of the collaborative force between the sensors and the asphalt mixtures,reflecting that temperature affects the structural damage pattern and tends to develop towards non-stable cracking.The distribution characteristics of the acoustic emission rise angle and average frequency at different temperatures indicate that fracture mode of asphalt mixtures with built-in strain sensors is significantly influenced by temperature,showing a predominant mode of tension-shear mixture and shear rupture.Moreover,as the temperature increases,the shear rupture becomes stronger,and the occurrence of shear events increases from 55.7%to 84.4%,with an increase factor of 1.52.The research findings provide valuable insights for the reasonable evaluation of the collaborative performance between built-in strain sensors and asphalt pavements,and contribute to the deep empowerment of sensor technology in traditional asphalt pavement structures.关键词
