Abstract
Objective:To explore the heterogeneity of intimacy fear among medical college students, and to explore the relationship between attachment type,self-esteem level, fear of intimacy, and depression. Methods:The Attach-ment Type-Relationship Questionnaire,Self-Esteem Scale,Fear of Intimacy Components Questionnaire, and the Short Version of Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale were used to survey 1092 college students en-rolled in a medical university in Liaoning Province.Potential categories of intimacy fear among medical college students were explored using latent profile analysis, and multiple logistic regressions were used to explore the effects of attachment type, level of self-esteem,and demographic information on the profiles of intimacy fear, differences in individual depression scores across intimate fear groups were explored by the Kruskal-Wallis test.Results:①Medi-cal college students'intimacy fear can be categorized into three potential categories:high intimacy fear group(17.95%),low intimacy fear group(10.35%),and borderline intimacy fear group(71.70%);②Multiple logistic re-gression analyses revealed that individuals with ambivalent attachment(OR=2.907,P<0.05),avoidant attachment(OR=6.301,P<0.001),and fearful attachment(OR=7.586,P<0.001)were more likely to be categorized into the high intimacy fear group compared to secure attachment, and individuals with moderate self-esteem(OR=5.115 P<0.001)and low self-esteem(OR=46.074,P<0.001)individuals were more likely to be categorized in the high in-timate fear group compared to high self-esteem;③ The results of the Kruskal-Wallis test showed that there was a significant difference between the different intimacy fear profiles on the total depression score and the three subdi-mensions(P<0.001),with the high intimacy fear group rank-sum>borderline intimacy fear group rank-sum>low intimacy fear group rank-sum.Conclusion:Medical college students'fear of intimacy is heterogeneous,attach-ment type and self-esteem level are factors affecting medical college students'fear of intimacy.Individuals with dif-ferent intimacy fear profiles differ in depression levels, with the overall trend of depression level decreasing from the high fear of intimacy group, borderline fear of intimacy group, and low fear of intimacy group, and college students in the high intimacy fear group are prone to a high tendency to be highly depressed.关键词
