Impact of task significance on college students'intention of voluntary service:A moderated mediation model

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the impact of task significance on college students'intention of voluntary serv-ice,as well as the mediating role of passion for voluntary service and the moderating role of social support.Methods:A total of 1742 college students were tested using the task significance questionnaire,voluntary service intention scale,passion for voluntary service questionnaire,and voluntary service intention questionnaire.Results:①Task sig-nificance had a significant positively predictive effect on voluntary service intention of college students(r=0.693,P＜0.001);②Passion for voluntary service played a mediating role between task significance and college students vol-untary service intention(β=0.303,P＜0.001);③ Social support significantly moderated the direct pathway(β=0.103,P＜0.01),the first half pathway(β=0.128,P＜0.001)of the mediation model.Conclusion:Task significance not only directly affects college students'intention of voluntary service,but also affects their intention of voluntary service through passion for voluntary service.Social support has a moderating effect on both the direct path and the first half mediating path of task significance on college students'intention of voluntary service.关键词
