Abstract

Kenaf(Hibiscus cannabinus L.)as an important cash crop in China,is predominantly cultivated in regions such as Anhui,Fujian and Henan,owing to the high utility value of its fiber and stalk.With increasing emphasis on stress resistance in cultivation areas,research endeavors have intensi-fied.By employing a weighing method to regulate water levels and simulate drought stress,an experiment was conducted using Hongyou 2 as the experiment material.Drought treatment was carried out through pot test,and different concentrations of silicon were set(0.2 g/L,0.5 g/L,0.8 g/L,labeled as Si0.2,Si0.5,Si0.8).The study assessed the impacts of varying silicon concentrations on the physiological response and growth status of kenaf at different growth stages under drought conditions.The potential regulatory mecha-nism of silicon on the drought resistance of kenaf was also explored.The results showed that spraying 0.5 g/L silicon solution had the best effect on plant height and stem diameter,increasing by 50.00%and 22.76%compared with drought treatment,respectively.Considering the effects on leaf structure and physiological indexes,0.5 g/L silicon solution had the best effect.This experiment confirmed the positive role of silicon in improving the drought resistance of kenaf,and provided practical guidance and theoreti-cal basis for improving the drought resistance of kenaf during the whole growth period.
