Abstract
Objective:To investigate the correlation between Modic changes and osteoporotic fractures.Method:Clinical data of 460 osteoporosis patients admitted to the Department of Spine Surgery of Huizhou Central People's Hospital from August 2021 to July 2022 were retrospectively selected,and the patients were divided into the osteoporosis(OP)group and the osteoporotic fracture(OF)group according to whether or not they had osteoporotic fracture,and the patients'age,body mass index(BMI),gender and other clinical data in the two groups were collected,and the propensity matching scoring method was used to determine the cases in the two groups according to the ratio of 1∶1,using the patients'clinical data as the matching condition.The occurrence of Modic changes and the classification of Modic changes were observed and compared between the two groups,and the relationship between Modic changes and osteoporotic fractures was verified by Pearson correlation analysis.Result:After propensity matching,116 patients in the OP group and 116 patients in the OF group were finally included.There were no significant differences in clinical data between the two groups after propensity matching(P>0.05).The incidence of Modic changes in OF group was 69.83%,which was significantly higher than 41.38%in OP group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in classification of Modic changes(P>0.05).Pearson's correlation analysis showed a positive correlation between Modic changes and osteoporotic fractures(r=0.286,P<0.05).Conclusion:Modic changes are associated with osteoporotic fractures,osteoporotic fractures will increase the risk of Modic changes.Clinically,patients with osteoporotic fractures should strengthen disease management,so as to effectively prevent Modic changes secondary to osteoporotic fractures.关键词
